Summary
In an intense clash on Wednesdays first double header game of the evening, the Melbourne Boomers momentum shift in the final quarter gave them the fighting push to come out swinging and take home the victory against the Southside Flyers, 67-61.
The Flyers gave the Boomers a run for their money in the first half as they came out firing and ready to dominate, defensively pressuring the three point line and taking on second chance attempts challenged the Boomers game play and their ability to take the lead.
With the Boomers trailing behind by 11 points heading into the second half, the Melbourne Boomers entered the next quarter with new energy, finally giving them the lead for the first time in the game against the Flyers.
The fourth quarter brought the atmosphere alive, as both teams fought tooth and nail to take home this victory, with the score levelling out mid-way through the last quarter. The Boomers set things alight and quickly broke away from the Flyers with stand out players including Canada, Conti and Blicavs playing a huge part in their roles to get Melbourne their win.
Ultimately, the tight match-up left Southside Flyers without the win, as Melbourne Boomers took home the 6 point victory with Jordin Canada being named Player of the Game with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
