Announcement posted by Raise Our Voice Australia 22 Sep 2023
The 2023 Raise Our Voice in Parliament campaign is thrilled to announce an impressive roster of over 70 politicians from across Australia who have confirmed their participation and commitment to amplify the voices of young Australians.
The likes of Anne Aly, Adam Bandt, Monique Ryan, Bridget Archer and Katy Gallagher will give up one of their speaking slots to deliver a 90-second speech in parliament written by a future leader.
The annual Raise Our Voice in Parliament Campaign provides young people with an opportunity to be heard on the issues that are important to them and make lasting change in their community.
In light of the upcoming Indigenous Voice to Parliament Referendum, Youth Voice in Parliament Week has been rescheduled to 13 - 16 November 2023. This change will allow a complete focus on the significant discussions surrounding the referendum and ensure that young voices are heard in both these crucial events.
With this new schedule, the deadline for speech submissions has been extended until 29 September 2023. Young people are invited to submit a speech which addresses the topic 'What change would make Australia a better place for future generations?'.
Already as part of this year's campaign, speeches cover an array of topics, reflecting the diverse and passionate voices of Australia's young people. These topics include First Nations issues, animal rights, road safety, human rights, gender pay gap, climate change, and queer rights, to name a few.
The campaign is an initiative of Raise Our Voice Australia, a social enterprise providing training, mentoring and opportunities in politics and policy for young women and gender diverse Australians. This campaign is open to all young Australians aged 25 or below.
