2023 IT Journalism Awards - Thankyous, Social Photos and more.

Announcement posted by Influencing 19 May 2023

The 21st Annual Samsung Australian IT Journalism Awards were held last Friday May 12th.

Big winners on the night were Jeremy Kirk for Journalist of the Year, and Marc Fennel of Download this Show with Best Outlet of the Year.
The full list of Winners and Highly Commendeds is available here; including Whistleout's memorable win for Best Consumer Technology Coverage (shown below).

Thank you to our special guest and Minister for Communications MP Michelle Rowland, for joining us to help open the evening.

Event Host and Influencing CEO Phil Sim also expressed his gratitude to the community for helping make the event one to remember.

"The Samsung IT Journalism Awards has a long and storied history over the past 21 years away, and has hosted many memorable events including last year's 20th Anniversary. However, so many people have said to me following this year's event, that it was the best ever," Sim said.

"That's gratifying for us, because we are constantly looking for ways to improve the event and keep it relevant to the shifting sands of technology media and communications, but as much as anything, it is reflective of the strength and camaraderie within the community and we deeply enjoy and appreciate the role we get to play within that."

On a personal note I'd like to thank our sponsors this year. It's a high profile event, and there's a lot of pressure to deliver, but every year our supporters - and especially our name sponsor, Samsung Australia - do their best to help us bring you this event. Thank you Christine Law and Matea Rojas, without whom we simply wouldn't have that support from Samsung.

Thank you also Adela Amanowicz and the tech team at Cisco, Melissa Wong from Tesserent & their team, Sarah Quinlivin from Atlassian, Catherine Vissiere at Apptio, Justin Stolarski and the folks at Optus, Cam Craig & Matt Wu from AWS, Jon Harley & Diana Abeleven at Canva, Matt Tett of TestLab and last but definitely not least Oisin O'Callaghan & Hannah Watterson of lifelong supporters Watterson Marketing Communications. It's a community event, and it's the community as a whole that makes this successful every year. But the Lizzies simply wouldn't happen without these key individuals - thank you all so much.

Lastly let me say thanks again to all the entrants, everyone who followed along from home (Hi Ang!) and of course everyone at Luna Park last Friday.

We hope you had a blast! All our photos are here, we sure hope you'll all join us next year.

Best regards
