The months of March and April are the most conducive period for outdoor events in Australia. The weather is perfect and the moods are high as the sweltering summer comes to an end.
Outdoor events are considerably more popular in Australia, owing to the adventurous spirit of the people and scenic beauty of the country. In a recent survey conducted by Statista on the popular “Hobbies & activities in Australia in 2022”, outdoor activities ranked seventh on the list with 27% people showing interest in them.[1]
Whether its sunny, windy, rainy or even snowy – it’s hard to keep us Aussies inside all the time. Recently, during the Federal elections which resulted in a win for Labor party, the Australian eastern coast witnessed a chilly and rainy election day. However, this did not deter the citizens from finding shades to celebrate this festival of democracy.[2]
Rain is a little more benevolent sometimes, however, as everyone already knows, activities under the sun without proper protection can cause a lot of harm to your skin. Dermatologists and health experts in Australia have always drawn attention to the problems associated with sun exposure and suggested ways to protect oneself from it.
Moreover, when heading out for a day outdoors, most Aussies love to carry an esky full of beer or other alcoholic beverages to relax and enjoy under the sky (unless it’s a business event of course!). In a recent interview from December 2021, Dr. Niyati Sharma, a leading dermatologist, also highlighted how sun exposure and alcohol together can increase the chances of a melanoma by 20%.[3]
Therefore, gazebos, marquees and patio umbrellas have turned out to be very popular sun shades across the country. While it is easy to avail these products in smaller sizes for personal use, larger event tents take more time to be manufactured. Based on an analysis of the leading brands of marquees and gazebos, it appears that the manufacturing time required to produce a large-scale event tent is somewhere between 6 to 8 weeks. In today’s fast paced modern world, waiting this long for a product is not always worthwhile.
Nevertheless, amongst more than 10 leading brands of sun shade solutions in Australia, the survey found only one that stocked and provided ready-to-ship giant event tents, which can reach a consumer within a couple of weeks depending on delivery location. Extreme Marquees, Australia’s premium manufacturers and retailers of gazebos and marquees, turned out to be the only brand that had taken their game to the big leagues in the event marquee tents’ segment.
Over the last 20 years, Extreme Marquees has provided top-quality and modern designs to its patrons and made an outstanding reputation in the market and their industry. However, apart from manufacturing made-to-order large size event tents, they have now also begun stocking ready-to-ship giant tents for large outdoor gatherings.
A spokesperson for the company provided more information on the matter and stated that: “Large-scale event tents are usually tagged as made-to-order products as it takes roughly 2 months to manufacture them, after the finalisation of an order by the customer. Stocking these products is hard as they are more expensive and bigger in size. As of a few months ago, Extreme Marquees has begun stocking more than 30 products in the event tents range in varied sizes. This works very well in serving our customers with tight due dates.”
Extreme Marquees manufactures and retails a variety of event tents, which include crest marquees, pavilion marquees, pinnacle marquees as well as dome tents. They have successfully provided shade solutions in the form of temporary structures for weddings, markets, clubs, schools, hospitals, so on and so forth.
The spokesperson from Extreme Marquees further informed that the company devised this strategy during the COVID pandemic in order to assist health services with urgent requirements for temporary shelter. Extreme Marquees began rolling out medical tents on an emergency basis to help hospitals and nursing homes. In a previous interview, they had expressed these intentions stating that “As a responsible company with a presence all across our country (Australia) as well as in US and New Zealand, this is the least we can do...we can confirm that we are using our R&D experience to refine our existing products. We will fight (against COVID) shoulder-to-shoulder with the (provincial) Government and try to aid society to the best of our abilities.”
Since then, they have ramped up their custom marquees and tents to cater to specialized demands for health services like drive-through vaccinations centers, testing centers, isolation chambers, fast-deployment inflatables, isolation beds, amongst other things. The availability of ready-to-ship large-scale event marquees is a further extension of these developments by the company. By stocking these products, the company has resolved not just the problem of temporary shelters for health care services but also the crisis of finding a venue for large events on an urgent basis for business or recreational purposes. Organizers can now plan accordingly and in a short span of time to keep their events and their guests from scalding under the blazing sun or facing other harsh weather conditions.
It is evident that the company is taking huge leaps in creating an impression with its customers by generating more brand awareness and value. However, to what extent they would be able to capitalize on these new developments remains to be seen. As their past growth has indicated, the future seems quite promising for the brand. At the moment though, we can say without doubt that this decision to stock large-scale ready-to-ship event marquees will greatly help consumers with urgent needs and definitely win accolades for Extreme Marquees from both old and new customers.
