Sydney: The Social Good Summit Australia (SGSA) has just announced that NSW Treasurer and Energy Minister, Matt Kean will be the keynote speaker for the SGSA being held this Saturday at NIDA in Kensington. Mr Kean joins an outstanding line-up of inspirational speakers that will present throughout the day.
In 2019, Mr Kean was appointed Minister for Energy and Environment. In this position, he added substantial expanses of land to the NSW National Parks’ Estate, doubling acquisition targets that will see an extra 400,000 hectares added by the end of this year.
An outspoken critic of “climate denialism” he campaigned for greater and national action on climate change, particularly in the wake of the 2019-20 bushfires. Championing a more progressive set of energy and climate policies in the Liberal Party, he has argued that the centre of Australian politics needs to reclaim its voice in the political debate. In 2020, he delivered the Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap: a 20-year plan for NSW’s energy infrastructure that incentivises private investment in renewable energy while simultaneously reducing emissions and lowering electricity bills for the families and businesses of NSW.
In his address to the Summit, Mr Kean will focus on the importance of unleashing the full potential of women's participation in the NSW workforce as a way to bolster future economic growth.
Among the nine other outstanding speakers at the Social Good Summit Australia are:
- Guy Brent, MD of The Woolworths Food Company and Metro
- Professor Veena Sahajwalla, 2022 Australian of the Year Awards for New South Wales
- Shane Fitzsimmons AFSM AO, Commissioner Of Resilience NSW and
- Simon Moss, Co Founder Global Citizen
The Social Good Summit Australia will be held this Saturday March 5 at NIDA in Kensington. The Summit will see change makers from around the nation come together as part of a global effort to drive social change relating to the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals with the sole aim of creating a better world by 2030.
