Tattoo Aftercare:
Great looking tattoos aren't just made in a studio. Your tattoo's care, particularly in the immediate two weeks while it heals, will determine if the tattoo maintains its appearance. Poorly maintained tattoos can result in significant fading or loss of detail, resulting in long-term damage. These mistakes can be easily avoided. But, it often occurs when a tattoo studio has failed to educate its client on appropriate tattoo aftercare. CB Ink Tattoo suggests some tattoo aftercare tips that everyone should go with,
Tip 1 - Give Your Tattoo Some Fresh Air:
The best way to ensure your tattoo heals properly is to follow the aftercare instructions provided by your tattooist. Within two hours of leaving the tattoo studio, gently clean your tattoo with warm, soapy water. Be sure not to wrap it back up afterwards, as it’s important to give your skin the chance to be exposed to fresh air.
Tip 2 - The First 2 Days are Critical:
In the days immediately following your tattoo appointment, it’s best to let your body do its own healing. Our CB Ink Tattoo experts recommend keeping your skin free from creams and moisturisers for the first two days after your appointment. Clean your tattoo twice per day with warm water, then pat it dry and allow it to air freely.
Tip 3 - Apply Cream & Wash from Day 3:
From the third day onwards, it’s finally time to start applying your cream. Continue washing your tattoo under warm water twice daily and gently patting the area dry. Follow this process with After Care, or the cream recommended to you by your tattooist.
Tip 4 - Avoid Bacteria:
To keep your tattoo hygienic, avoid bars of soap, as these can hold bacteria. Instead, opt for an antibacterial hand wash or a gentle body wash and incorporate these into your daily skincare routine. When applying the cream after washing, help your skin breathe by using a pea-sized amount of product.
Tip 5 - Let it Heal:
To ensure your tattoo heals properly, try to only touch it with clean hands. If the area becomes itchy or flaky, you can lightly tap it or use balm to soothe it. The CB Ink Tattoo team recommends keeping your new tattoo out of direct sunlight and avoiding swimming until the design is fully healed. It’s also important to avoid wearing tight clothing over the tattoo as this can damage the tattoo in the healing process.
