Announcement posted by Comfort Quest Pty Ltd 18 Jan 2022
Comfort Quest, a technology startup that empowers healthcare providers to reduce pain and anxiety in paediatric patients, has launched an app to help increase uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine. The app educates families on research-proven strategies to help children effectively manage their needle fear, and allows the child to create a personalised comfort plan for their upcoming jab.
Families are scrambling to vaccinate their most young and vulnerable, however, the research shows that 63% of children experience needle anxiety. This represents millions of kids in Australia alone. Thankfully, there are plenty of proven methods that anyone can learn to help a child manage their pain and anxiety.
“As a father of three boys, I became used to unexpected trips to the emergency room. Now, every parent is faced with making tough decisions to vaccinate their children,” said Taylor Jay Hobbs, founder and CEO of Comfort Quest. “Since I started Comfort Quest and have been testing the app with my kids, I’ve seen first-hand how these strategies help kids better manage their anxiety. The feedback we receive is very rewarding. We’re making a positive impact for these families and I hope we can continue to do so for many more.”
Comfort Quest collaborated with global experts in paediatric psychology to develop this technology and has since generated over 1000 comfort plans for children around the world. The app for families offers pain management tips, such as using over-the-counter topical anaesthetics, distractions, and breathing techniques. Visit https://comfortquest.io/parents/ to learn more.
