Dr David Panter has been announced as Minda’s new Chief Executive following an extensive national and international search and rigorous selection process.
In announcing the appointment, Minda’s Board Chair and President Joanne Denley, said Dr Panter brings a wealth of human services sector experience, together with business acumen and corporate governance expertise and was the perfect choice to lead the organisation through its next phase of growth and transformation.
“David was an outstanding candidate in what was a very competitive field. His experience in leading complex service delivery organisations in the health, aged care, housing and disability sectors will ensure Minda continues to be a leader in the disability sector,” Ms Denley said.
“David has long experience working with people living with intellectual disabilities and his vision, strategic input and proven leadership experience will be a great asset to our team. His passion and commitment to people across the disability and health sectors mirrors Minda’s core values,” she said.
“The Minda Board looks forward to working with David as he leads our workforce to bring the Minda 2025 strategic plan to life and meet the current and future needs of our clients.”
Dr Panter welcomed his appointment, saying “Minda plays a critical role in the community by supporting South Australians who have some of the most complex cognitive impairment and health conditions in the state. I am excited at the opportunity to join the Minda team and build on Minda’s 123-year history of outstanding leadership in the disability sector.”
Dr Panter brings more than forty years’ experience in health, community and social welfare services in Australia and the UK. He has operated at Chief Executive level for more than 26 years, and for the last seven years has been the Chief Executive of not-for-profit aged care provider, ECH, Enabling Confidence at Home.
In the UK he worked in the National Health Service across hospital, community and primary care services. In 2004 he was recruited to the South Australian public health system to lead reforms including the development of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital. He is currently Chair of the SA Council of Social Service and a Board Director of the Australian Council of Social Service. He has a PhD (Developmental Psychology), and BSc (Hons) IIi (Experimental Psychology).
