NBF and TJRA flag journalists’ safety following recent attack

Several journalists’ associations, including the News Broadcasters Federation and the Telangana Journalist Reporter Association, have condemned veteran Telugu actor and former Rajya Sabha member Mohan Babu's recent attack on a vernacular news journalist in Jalpally, Hyderabad.   M Ranjith Kumar, a senior correspondent at TV9, was allegedly attacked by Mohan Babu using a microphone. The incident occurred when a group of journalists reached actor Mohan Babu's residence to cover an ongoing family feud. Ranjith sustained a severe head injury and was rushed to a hospital at Shamshabad following the assault and verbal abuse hurled at the journalist. A criminal case has been filed against the actor following a complaint.     The Telangana Journalist Reporter Association, in its letter to the Press Council of India, urged the body to take prompt legal action against the actor. The Indian government is set to launch digital radio services in 13 metro cities, marking a significant leap in the country’s broadcasting landscape. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, announced the initiative at a conference organised by the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) and the Association of Radio Operators for India (AROI) on the future of digital radio broadcasting. “Technology adoption, even in far-flung areas, must happen while developing an ecosystem to facilitate deployment of digital radio broadcasting in India.
