MIB extends FM Phase-III auction application deadline

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has extended the last date for submission of applications for Notice Inviting Applications (NIA), giving more time for the e-auctions for the allotment of 730 channels across 234 uncovered cities under the third batch of FM Phase-III radio channels. The Ministry has now announced that the last date for submission of applications is set for December 9, 2024. The notice inviting applications released last month fixed November 18, 2024, as the last date for submission of applications. However, radio operators urged the government to extend the deadline to January 15, 2025, citing the time required for reviewing and assessing the market of each town under auction. According to the official release, the applications' ownership details will be published on December 16, 2024, and the bidder's ownership compliance certificate date will be December 23, 2024. The bidders will be pre-qualified on January 10, 2025, or once all requisite formalities

Security forces gunned down 10 “armed militants” in Manipur’s Jiribam district Monday in swift retaliation to two CRPF posts coming under attack around 3pm, capping days of attacks by suspected tribal gunmen on civilian targets in one of the flashpoints of the ethnic strife, making this one of the bloodiest days since the ethnic strife began in 2023.
