Strong PR muscle added to Taurus roster

Taurus Marketing logoIntegrated agency Taurus has welcomed seasoned PR specialist Ian Dose into the rolls as a senior consultant.

Dose comes into Taurus with over two decades of experience under his belt. He is well-known for spearheading the communications work behind Sydney’s successful bid for the 2000 Olympic Games, plus his work as a senior advisor to numerous government ministers and his time spent as the general manager of corporate relations for the Roads and Traffic Authority (now Roads and Maritime Services).

Dose spoke positively of joining Taurus and working under CEO Sharon Williams.

Thorburn joins The Mint Partners

Integrated communications agency The Mint Partners has tapped Cameron Thorburn to be its new head of digital and content.

The new position puts Thorburn as part of the agency’s senior leadership team, alongside co-founders/MDs Genevieve Taubman and Brett Galvin and strategy and operations boss Miranda Bryce. 

Thorburn comes to The Mint Partners with a wealth of experience stretching back over ten years. He has previous digital and creative director experience at agencies such as the DDB Group Australia, Totem Communications, Weber Shandwick, and PPR ANZ, which he left last month. 

“Cameron’s experience will be instrumental in building the agency’s digital and content capabilities, while integrating in with our broader PR and communications remit,” Taubman said.

“He will lead our new digital offerings around content production and distribution, social media and digital advertising, measurement and brand strategy.”

Stellar earns new clients

Sydney communications agency Stellar has kicked off FY20 with new clients on the roster.

The agency’s Stellar Connex division was tasked to handle the account for hospitality and leisure recruitment consultants Hastings People. Their first assignment was organising the Hastings Connect networking event for Australian hospitality professionals, which took place this week.

Stellar Connex is also teaming up with co-departments Stellar Social and Stellar Studio to work with direct-to-consumer hair and beauty brand True Me. The remit calls for Stellar to bolster True Me’s legacy branding with new content, marketing, and the deployment of brand influencers/ambassadors.

WhiteGREY loses directors

WPP AUNZ member-agency whiteGREY no longer has the services of two senior directors.  

Mumbrella reported one of them, group account director Claire Manning, had exited the company after 22 years. She joined predecessor agency Grey Group in August 1997, running the agency’s oral health portfolio, and was able to see Grey Group’s merging with The White Agency in 2017.

The second, Warwick Heathwood, left whiteGREY this week after only five months as strategy director to go freelance. He joined the agency after relocating to Sydney from New York, where he was head of strategy with SET Creative.

whiteGREY management has yet to announce replacements for Manning and Heathwood.

Titmus exits RED Havas

Grant Titmus has stepped down as RED Havas’ executive director.

Mumbrella reported that he left the agency to open his own consultancy, called Sumit Media.

Titmus has been a major stalwart of former RED Havas component arm RED Agency. He joined RED Agency in October 2005, handling work across its financial services, technology, corporate affairs, and issues and crisis communications practices. 

Titmus detailed that Sumit Media will focus on issues and crisis management.

OPR staffers move up

WPP AUNZ member-agency opr has promoted two senior employees.

The agency announced this week that Bridget Jung (pictured, right) is now with the opr executive team as its new chief creative officer. She had been the agency’s ECD since joining the team in October 2017, and was critical in building opr’s integrated communications services. 

“Promoting Bridget further reinforces our focus on creativity as a strategic differentiator.  We have purposely focused on creativity and innovation as a key growth strategy for the business, and a key driver for our client’s success. Bridget has played an instrumental role in achieving that strategy, extending the range of work the team is delivering,” said opr CEO Richard Brett.

One Daydream scores new deals

One Daydream has become a PR agency of record for two companies, reported Mumbrella. 

The first account is Australian cosmetics firm Napoleon Perdis. The account calls for One Daydream to help rebuild Napoleon Perdis’ market position with a new communications strategy. The KUBA investment house bought the company when it went under administration earlier this year. 

“We are really looking forward to watching this iconic business thrive under new leadership. It’s an exciting time to watch the Napoleon Perdis brand, as it heads into new territory,” said One Daydream founder/CEO Pru Corrigan. 

One Daydream will also handle media and influencer relations for New York skincare maker Indie Lee & Co. The company is known for all-organic solutions such as body wash and vitamin-laced facial oil.

VERSA earns Fast Company ranking

VX agency VERSA has been recognised in the new 50 Best Workplaces for Innovators list compiled by American business publication Fast Company and Accenture.  

The agency landed the coveted spot in the listing after evaluators positively graded its employee business development program that began in 2017. The program has since borne fruit with the establishment of satellite firms Code Like a Girl and Initio Insurance.

VERSA is one of only eight companies not based in the US - and the only Australian firm - to make the list, which highlights firms in areas such as engineering, biotech, and cybersecurity. The 50 entries were picked out from a pool of 362 companies from the US and around the world.
