MIB seeks agency to develop AI/ML-based integrated dashboard to analyse news

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has floated a request for expression of interest (REoI) inviting agencies for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of an integrated dashboard to analyse news stories. With the objective of staying up-to-date with technological advancements and using modern technologies like Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), the MIB seeks to deploy an integrated dashboard, an AI/ML-powered solution that will analyse recent news stories to forecast emerging trends. The ministry has also added the latest bid-specific terms and conditions that will supersede any previous terms. According to a release, the agency should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, development, and maintenance of AI/ML-based dashboards and mobile apps for the Union Government (Ministry/Department/PSUs/Autonomous bodies) of a value more than INR two crore in a single work order. Adrian Brine has left ARN and his role as content director for Melbourne’s KIIS 101.1 to become group content manager for MediaWorks NZ, according to his LinkedIn post. He will oversee the company’s radio stations, The Edge, Mai FM, and George FM and continue as director of growth for the broadcast promotion platform Audata. In his post sharing the news, Brine also mentioned his wife, Ash London, who hosts the Hopeless Romantics podcast. Before his two-year stint at KIIS and ARN, Brine held leadership roles for 13 years with SCA. He took a break from the industry in 2020 to focus on fatherhood.  

EU approves RIL-Disney merger

The European Union has approved the creation of Star India (SIPL), a collaboration between Reliance Industries, Walt Disney Company, and BTS Investment 1, according to BestMediaInfo.   This approval is a crucial step towards finalising the deal that will merge the assets of Viacom18, StarPlus and JioCinema to create a robust entity of the two media giants, to compete against major players in the streaming sector.   The merged entity will possess over 100 television channels and two streaming platforms with over 750 million viewers across India.  Under the merger, Reliance Industries will hold a 63.16 per cent stake, and Disney will own 36.84 per cent.  Nita Ambani, chairperson of Reliance Foundation, will lead SIPL as its chairperson, while Uday Shankar, a former Disney executive, will serve as vice chairperson.   The merger has also received nods from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and the National Company Law Tribunal.
