New travel clients join The MINT Partners stable

The MINT Partners logoThe MINT Partners is entering fall 2021 with new clients for its travel practice.

For the hospitality section, the agency landed a deal with Marriott International to build up promotions for the relaunch of the Sheraton Fiji Resort on Denarau Island, Fiji, under a branding called The World’s Gathering Place. The event is being timed when Australia officially reestablishes travel links to the island-nation.

The tourism section has MINT working with Virgin Australia on a new PR and activation campaign for its Velocity Frequent Flyer loyalty program. 

Tourism Tasmania is dealing with MINT for paid PR/influencer activity for a new campaign to attract visitors to Tasmania in winter 2021.

Merger aims to make an Impact

As marketing leaders who have had a knack for picking emerging trends, Mark and Heather Jones have gone all-in on purpose-driven branding.
Filtered Media, the marketing agency founded by former AFR journalist Mark Jones and his wife and experienced PR practitioner Heather, has merged with Social Impact Institute, a social sector advisory firm.
The new 25-person organisation will come together under a new name, The ImpactInstitute and will aim to combine Filtered Media's strengths in storytelling, content marketing and public relations with Social Impact Institute's specialist capabilities in measuring and optimising social impact. 
Jones will lead the combined organisation as CEO, while Social Impact Institute CEO David Jack will become Executive Chair and Head of Advisory.
The ImpactInstitute describes its remit as "helping commercial and social sector organisations across Australia create measurable impact with stories that matter".

The leadership circle of PR agency One Green Bean (ogb) has new additions.

The agency revealed that group account director Amber Abbott will now be the head of client services. She has been with the agency for seven years and has been critical to the success of several key campaigns.

Another group account director, Hannah Stalder, is now the head of creative services. She was promoted on account of a decade’s experience running major events and campaigns for consumer lifestyle, retail, and consumer tech clients.

Senior account director for digital Matt Hagias has been promoted to social/influencer lead. He has been with ogb for five years after running social strategy and platform management for AFL side GWS Giants. Some personnel at WPP agency opr have been promoted, reported B and T.

For opr’s health communications arm LIFE, managing partner Rachel Stanton will be the new managing director. 

Creative director Miriam Wells climbs up to head of strategy and creative, reporting to chief strategy and creative officer Bridget Jung.

Managing partner Nino Tesoriero is now the agency’s chief counsel, advising clients on crisis, issues and reputation management activities. 

Alan Tanner and James Curtis have been moved up to director.

Emma Bridgeman and Sarah Quinlivan are co-holders of the new business development director role. The position is designed to oversee opr’s operations, marketing, and new business creation work.

Wunderman Thompson takes up Commerce

Wunderman Thompson Australia has officially absorbed Wunderman Thompson Commerce (WTC) into its operations.

The move will see Wunderman Thompson’s services augmented with WTC’s market capabilities designed for online/store retail, B2B, D2C, and social media, such as business support, an e-commerce platform, and third-party integration. The WTC staff will also move into Wunderman Thompson Australia’s Melbourne office.

WTC chief commerce officer Geoff Smeaton will report directly to Wunderman Thompson Australia CEO Lee Leggett.

Coady takes up Havas Media CMO spot

Francis Coady has been appointed as the Havas Media Group’s new chief marketing officer.

He moves up from five years as GM of Havas Sports and Entertainment, with successful campaigns including those for a leading energy sports drink, a men’s healthcare brand, and a state tourism organisation. An in-house successor has yet to be announced.

Coady has run his own media/entertainment management consultancy and also was executive producer of the Bondi Short Film Festival for 13 years.

Edelman increases size of leadership crew

Edelman Australia has appointed new people to management positions with Natasha Brack as head of technology and Danny Cowan as director for corporate affairs.

Brack joined the agency after almost six years with Microsoft Australia as senior communications manager and senior integrated marketing communications manager – both for the consumer marketing division. 

Cowan was previously Starbucks Coffee’s senior manager for corporate in the EMEA region, based out of London, England, for four years. He joined Edelman out of his family’s requests to come back home to Australia. Before working for Starbucks, Cowan spent six years with Edelman as senior APAC corporate and crisis manager, based in Hong Kong and San Francisco. 

In other agency news, Edelman Australia reported the exit of Kathryn Browne as the agency’s resident client strategist for Samsung Australia after five years to be Sony’s PlayStation communications lead.
