By Will McLennan in Media News on
Dancesport is the name given to competitive ballroom dancing. “[The Last Waltz] is constructed out of bits and pieces that have come to me over a very long time of watching dance movies, participating in Dancesport myself, talking to dancers and whatnot. So it's a collection of [my] experiences.” The visual novel—a specific type of game blending text-based narrative with anime/manga style art—focuses on DDNet’s mascot, Danica and their partner Micah’s two decade career in dancesport. Sainsbury says he hopes to introduce Dancesport to a “wider audience”. “Hopefully, if even one person plays it and is converted into a fan of Dancesport, then I think I would have done something through this project.” “You wouldn't recognise these dances unless you were a dancer. You wouldn't recognise these dances if you passed them on the street. So what I wanted to show with this and what I hope people get out of it is where the passion comes from for the sport.” Sainsbur
