“I had to feel, believe and report it”: Shobana Radhakrishnan’s fight to keep marginalised voices in focus

Shobana Radhakrishnan has built a reputation as a thoughtful chronicler of housing injustice, gender inequality and urban displacement. Now Associate Editor at Citizen Matters, her journalism foregrounds silenced voices with a steady focus on policy, accuracy and public interest.
Her career began at The New Indian Express in Madurai, where she reported on local bodies, environmental issues, elections and health during the COVID - 19 crisis.
“As a first generation graduate, I had to shape my journalistic craft through reading and practice,” she said.
Her on-ground experience laid the groundwork for the long-form reportage and multimedia storytelling she later developed at Citizen Matters.
