Big restructuring laid down at ABC

In a TV broadcast from ABC’s Melbourne studio, Guthrie said the TV and radio departments will be disbanded in 2018. Staff from both areas will be reorganised into news, local/regional, and entertainment/specialist content teams, depending on each staff member’s strength of coverage. All staff will undergo a skills training course to better realign their job descriptions into the new setup while a new cadetship programme will be established for incoming hires. As for staff movements, Guthrie said there will be no job losses or programming cuts, but around 40 people will be recruited for the regional journalist job.
