Victoria Police’s Media Unit is in need of a new media advisor, to be based in Melbourne.

The media advisor will work with the state police leadership and the Corporate Communications Department in processing media enquiries involving the force.

They will be the point of contact between the police command or emergency services and the media to address current issues, with one task being to attend important field situations.

Applicants must have a detailed record of work in journalism or in a PR/communications environment, including but not limited to governmental duties. They must be capable of working under sheer pressure and on all days of the week. Candidates will be required to undergo police background checks.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is in need of a new communications officer under the ACT Policing’s Media and Public Engagement team in Canberra.

The person will be assigned to support ACT Policing’s communications needs through developing credible strategies and advice for the department and external parties. They will also build content for the force’s official channels and will be seconded to the ACT Government Public Information Coordination Centre during emergency situations.

The person will be tasked with developing news articles and communications materials such as blogs, press releases, videos, and speeches, among others. They will also support the marketing, sales, and brand leadership teams on other matters, plus speak at official events and travel abroad for official functions as needed.

Applicants must be journalists or PR practitioners with a detailed background in the financial services industry and the stock market. As the job requires overseas travel, the candidate must have a valid passport.

The Courier hiring for editor

The editor will be in overall charge of the newsroom, including sub-editing and producing copy, and managing staff assignments. They will also coordinate with the management, advertising and production staff on other matters.

The position will be open to seasoned journalists with a good deal of editor-level experience and are willing to be based in Narrabri.

PR specialist sought for MAZDA Australia

The Australian arm of Japanese automaker MAZDA is hiring a PR practitioner for its national marketing department, based at the company’s Mulgrave, Melbourne offices. The position will be on a 12-month, fixed-term contract.

The person will be tasked with supporting the department’s senior PR manager in developing and executing MAZDA Australia’s brand campaigns across automotive and lifestyle media.

Candidates for the post must be graduates of journalism, PR, or other communications-related courses with over two years’ experience in a consumer PR environment plus corporate writing.

They should demonstrate a detailed understanding of media processes, creative design, and event management. Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe software, and web development is recommended, as well as a record of involvement with the automotive industry.

Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance needs PR manager

The Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance (ATA) is opening its doors for a new PR manager, to be based in Sydney.

The person will be tasked with developing and executing publicity campaigns to further educate people on the ATA’s mission and vision. They will also, among other tasks, advise senior ATA staff on policy and programs, manage the dissemination of press releases and news, organize official ATA events, and to position official content for maximum impact.

Candidates for the post must have at least five years’ experience in the PR circuit, most particularly in advocacies and governmental services, and are graduates of courses with government-related majors.
