The audio journalist will produce news items for SCA’s FM stations and device apps. The content will also include items about the local community.
Candidates must have at least three years’ experience in a commercial radio station with a proven record of generating content within deadlines and can read out the news in a conversational style. Applicants proficient in NewsBoss and familiarity with the Gold Coast and Tweed may be considered. Prospective applications must include a sample concise audio demo alongside the cover letter and CV.
Geelong Advertiser seeks sports editor
The Geelong Advertiser in Geelong, Victoria has an open position for a sports editor.
In charge of the paper’s sports desk, the sports editor will be in charge of covering all notable sporting events and to lead processing of articles provided by reporters. They may be tasked to write some articles in addition to a column, plus develop and execute new editorial strategies.
The candidate should have a deep interest in sports, from local level to international competitions. They must demonstrate prior editor-level experience, including subediting and layouting. Aspirants with digital newsroom proficiency and familiarity with Geelong’s sporting scene may be considered.
SBS News hiring for Canberra journo
SBS News‘ Canberra office is looking for a new journalist to handle the Parliament beat.
The person is tasked to cover federal and state politics, with the remit including pursuing leads in the field and to interview subjects of interest. The content will also be published on social media channels in addition to SBS’ TV and radio broadcasts.
Candidates must be experienced in covering politics at the national and state levels for broadcast platforms, and can write on domestic and international news as needed. They will also need to familiarize and abide by the SBS Charter and code of conduct, and can work a flexible seven-day schedule.

Candidates must have a clear grasp of the radio production process and are well-versed in current affairs, local events and audience-relevant pop culture items. They should also possess high-calibre oral and written communication skills and can work under tight deadlines.
News Corp to hire commercial content editor
NewsCorp Australia’s Sydney office is on the lookout for a commercial content editor for the conglomerate’s Food Corp department.
The editor will be tasked to coordinate work between stakeholders and Food Corp’s editorial, commercial and production teams in the creation of new advertising content.
They will also ensure that the content is tweaked to the highest quality standards and within deadlines, then craft the post-campaign insight report for clients using accumulated Food Corp data.
Aspirants should be highly competent in the research and production of commercial content for digital audiences, plus corporate social media accounts and digital tools including Wordpress and Google Drive.
They should also be capable of working with a team or under minor supervision, under pressure. Consideration may be given as well to candidates skilled in data analytics and video content project management and/or production.

Live event management firm Eventbrite is in need of a new PR manager for its APAC division, based at its offices in Southbank, Victoria.
The APAC PR manager is assigned to develop and execute highly-creative PR campaigns with effective brand messaging and relevant target audiences. Other daily tasks will include processing enquiries and managing Eventbrite’s speakers bureau for APAC leaders and touring executives.
They will also maintain relationships with existing media contacts and develop new ones along the way, run crisis management sessions, and collaborate with Eventbrite’s APAC marketing team, global PR department, and the communications director for important duties.
The position will be open to communications and media studies graduates with up to ten years’ communications and media experience. This includes a detailed list of business/consumer media contacts, proven success in B2C/B2B brand positioning, scaling and management of global press campaigns, and reputable performance working with executive clients.
Successful applicants should also prove capable of working under tight deadlines, show initiative in campaign development, and managing teams. Experience in agency and in-house company PR operations, plus startups and firms with IPOs are also acceptable.
