SYDNEY, February 15, 2010. Tandberg Data, the global supplier of data protection solutions, today announced the availability of its DAT 320 tape drives and media products.. With low-cost, durable DAT media, and ongoing low-cost of ownership, DAT drives offer reliable tape backup and archiving to small and medium sized businesses.
The Tandberg Data DAT 320 will deliver backup speeds of up to 86 GB per hour with 2:1 data compression, allowing it to store a full 320 GB of data on a single cartridge in less than four hours. The DAT 320 is read and write compatible with DAT 160 tape media, providing an upgrade path for existing customers, as well as support for WORM (Write Once, Read Many) media cartridges and encryption to provide an additional level of security.
The new drive is designed to consume fewer watts per GB than previous generations of DAT drives – the DAT 320 drive consumes 6.1 watts during normal operation and has the lowest power consumption of any tape drive in the market.
Tandberg Data DAT Family
Tandberg Data DAT tape drives are available in a choice of capacities (72GB, 160GB or 320GB) with a selection of different configurations (internal, external or rack-mount). In addition to the popular interfaces supported by DAT 72 and DAT 160 (SCSI or USB), the DAT 320 drive will support an SAS or USB interface. The flexibility and choice ensures that the DAT drives can be integrated into most customer environments. Tandberg Data also sells DAT media, and its data and cleaning cartridges are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
In addition to WORM functionality, allowing users to meet regulatory compliance requirements, the Tandberg Data DAT 320 features encryption, providing users with the highest level of encryption capability and ensuring data privacy and regulatory compliance.
