Fortinet® – a market-leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions – today announced the FortiGate-200B, an affordable enterprise grade security appliance which is ideal for deployment in remote and branch office locations.

The FortiGate-200B appliance uses hardware-acceleration to enable wire-speed performance and network segmentation. Accelerated security ensures that broad security protection does not slow down application performance, or impact on network availability. Fortinet offers a complete range of enterprise grade security appliances, including the FortiGate-200B, FortiGate-310B, FortiGate-620B and the recently announced FortiGate-1240B.

Fortinet’s new network security appliance delivers high port density with 16 ports, all of which are accelerated with FortiASIC™ processors, offering 5 Gbps firewall and 2.5 Gbps IPSec VPN throughput.

The FortiGate-200B appliance is expected to be generally available in December and will ship with the newest version of Fortinet’s operating system, FortiOS 4.0 MR1.

“Our mid-enterprise product family is intended to deliver the best possible security performance and functionality at every price point, even at the entry-level segment supported by the FortiGate-200B,” said Anthony James, vice president of products, Fortinet. “In the highly competitive mid-enterprise segment, we believe we have delivered four very competitive, high-value products to meet the diverse and demanding requirements of this customer segment.”
