Print media advised against publishing ads for betting and gambling sites
By Staff Writer in Media News on Monday, 22nd April 2024 at 7:08pmThe Press Council of India has has advised print media not to run advertisements for betting and gambling websites and follow the directions issued by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), a release stated.
In the advisory dated March 6, 2024, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) of Ministry of Consumer Affairs had stated that ‘advertisement of online and betting platforms and apps promotes an activity that is predominantly banned and carries significant financial and socio-economic implications on consumers, particularly the youth.’
The online advertisement intermediaries have also been advised not to target such advertisements towards the Indian audience.
