Microsoft launches a new global MSN homepage

Microsoft has launched a new Australian homepage to rival former partner Ninemsn.com.au.
MSN.com.au will feature customizable news and content from “1,000 plus sources,” including Fairfax publications, Seven, Nine and Ten, the ABC, The Huffington Post and The Guardian.
Australians using Microsoft products Windows 8, Internet Explorer, Skype and Outlook will now be redirected to MSN as the default homepage, instead of Ninemsn.
However Microsoft have not cut all ties from Ninemsn, who will still be handling MSN’s advertising sales.
Ninemsn CEO David Gyngell estimated traffic to the site could fall up to 35 per cent as a result of the new competitor.
