The Seven Network has announced it will discontinue the 7NEWS Gold Coast bulletin starting this week.  In a statement to Mumbrella, the network confirmed that the 5:30 pm local Gold Coast news will conclude this Thursday. Following the change, viewers can watch the hour-long Seven Afternoon News at 4:00 pm, The Chase Australia at 5:00 pm, and 7NEWS live at 6:00 pm with Max Futcher and Sarah Greenhalgh. Most staff will remain in the new Gold Coast bureau, although some will relocate to Brisbane. Non-news team members, including those in sales, are not expected to be affected by the changes. Anthony De Ceglie, Seven’s director of news and current affairs, emphasised that this shift aims to modernise Gold Coast news coverage while enhancing its integration with Brisbane's 6:00 pm bulletin. David Bevan, the morning presenter for ABC Radio Adelaide, has announced his retirement at the end of the year, confirming longstanding rumors during his recent broadcast.  Reflecting on his 24 years in radio, David said, “It’s been an absolute privilege to sit in this room every weekday. [Radio] is the most intimate of media, but it’s also the very best media.” He humorously noted that his last day will be Friday, the 13th, assuring listeners that "nothing could possibly go wrong." According to Radio Info, Bevan began his career in radio in 2000 on the Mornings program with Philip Satchell, after previously working in print and ABC television news. Dean Miller will host Summer Breakfast while Shane Doherty and Jason Matthews will team up for Summer Drive and manage Wide World of Sports as 4BC's summer schedule kicks off on Monday, December 23, featuring a mix of new and familiar faces, Radio Info reported.   Dean, known for his work as a TV presenter on Creek to Coast and QLD Weekender, previously hosted breakfast shows on Triple M Brisbane and Sea FM Gold Coast. Shane Doherty is a former state political reporter at Nine News and held a senior position in the Palaszczuk Government. Jason Matthews is the executive producer of 4BC Drive, currently hosted by Gary Hardgrave, and has previously served as the content director for SEN QLD. All three have past experience with 4BC. The summer lineup will run until Friday, January 17, 2025. Gary Hardgrave and Peter Fegan will serve as interim hosts for breakfast until the end of 2024, with the lineup from January 20 yet to be announced.  

Brad McIntosh is concluding his role as producer at Canberra’s 2CC and transitioning to the Capital Radio newsroom today, Radio Today reported.  Brad will oversee news for the Goulburn region among other news responsibilities taking over from Maddi Green, who has moved to WIN TV’s Canberra newsroom. At 2CC, Brad spent most of his time producing Breakfast with Stephen Cenatiempo and has previously produced local programs for ABC Radio Canberra. He expressed enthusiasm for his new position, stating, “I’m looking forward to the opportunity. I know I’m in good hands with the Capital Radio Network.” Brad has also created and produced Communiqué Magazine, a passion project highlighting the talented individuals of Canberra.  

The Press Council of India (PCI) recently celebrated National Press Day 2024 on Nov 16 at the National Media Centre, New Delhi, spotlighting the evolving challenges in the media landscape. The theme for this year's event, according to an official release, was 'Changing Nature of Press'. Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Railways, and Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, addressed the gathering virtually, focusing on key issues such as disinformation, fair compensation for content creators, algorithmic bias, and the impact of AI on intellectual property rights.
